Here is another great achievement for the Bush/Cheney administration. Due to our failure to remain seriously engaged in Afghanistan, drug production has escalated far beyond what it has ever been.

The record crop yielded 6,100 tons of opium, or enough to make 610 tons of heroin — outstripping the demand of the world’s heroin users by a third, according to U.N. figures.

One of the things this means is that a third again more heroin users will be necessary to purchase and consume all of this heroin. That means a massive new plague of heroin use, addiction, and related crime, in the US and throughout the world. Thank you again Bush/Cheney, I’m sure we all feel a lot safer.
